The Hôtel du Département, an imposing white building designed by architect Ali Tur in 1934 and located on boulevard Félix Éboué, is the headquarters of the Conseil Départemental de la Guadeloupe. One of the Department's missions is to provide access to and transmit culture, as well as to preserve its heritage. The Guadeloupe Departmental Council is located in Basse-Terre. The 42 departmental councillors present in the constitution propose to manage day-to-day affairs and improve living conditions for everyone through various modes of intervention.
