Since 1890, Opinel has elevated the art of cutlery to a veritable way of life.
In Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, a 700-square-meter space is dedicated to the history of the famous Savoyard knife invented by Joseph Opinel. The Opinel Museum, which is free of charge, invites visitors to explore the key moments that forged the brand as it is today. The museum is designed to cater for all ages, with interactive tour aids for younger visitors and brochures translated into several languages.

Tout savoir sur l'Opinel ... son histoire , sa fabrication, sa famille ... très intéressant, très instructif et gratuit . Une jolie boutique avec de très beaux produits ... mais un personnel assez peu agréable ...seul bémol .... A voir absolument sur Saint Jean

A very pretty museum to understand how was born Opinel and its evolution in time.
There is a shop that allows you to buy different opinels opinels (table, opinels of hiking and others…)
A little further into the city (direction valley of the l'arvan), there is even a roundabout with a giant opinel!
