Château de la Bâtie-d'Urfé, with gardens with an original composition and full of symbols to decipher, to visit.

A gem that you must visit to take a leap in time. For it is an incredible chance that this castle has survived the centuries without any apparent damage! The Bâtie d'Urfé, originally a fortified house from the Middle Ages, was built in the 16th century under the inspiration of Claude d'Urfé, who travelled extensively in Italy, which was very fashionable at the time. From the gardens to the castle, each room deserves a visit to admire its features. Among the wonders of the Bâtie, the gardens offer an original composition full of symbols to be deciphered: the famous sphinx guarding the entrance to the castle and the bridle ramp leading to the library, not forgetting a unique cave, the only 16th century rock cave still preserved in France. A magical visit to share with the family.
