The oldest museum in the Loire department, with rich collections of a Fine Arts section through exhibitions.
Two centuries of collections constantly enriched by new pieces have taken place in this former mansion of Johann Baptiste d'Allard, rich gentleman forézien and member of the Military house of Louis XVI. The special hotel that houses the museum was built in 1810 by Allard's Jean-Baptiste. Multidisciplinary, the museum is one of the oldest in the department of the Loire! The collections are rich with a fine arts section of "French masters", a section "Natural History" including a beautiful collection of naturalized birds and, finally, a section "world of childhood" featuring the production of the toys "GéGé" of Montbrison, manufactured until the late 1970 s. In addition, the town of Montbrison has published a book entitled "The Word of GéGé - Workshop Chronicles 1933-1979" which is available in shop. Also note the importance of the annual cycle of exhibitions, conferences and animations. See!
