Fair trade food Montbrison

Montbrison is famous for its Fourme de Montbrison cheese. This blue-veined cheese has been produced in the region for centuries, and has been protected by an appellation d'origine contrôlée since 1972. Fourme de Montbrison is distinguished by its cylindrical shape, orange rind and supple, firm paste marbled with light blue. On the palate, it offers a pleasant texture and delicate flavors of cow's milk, mushroom and wood bark. Lightly salted, it is characterized by its finesse rather than its strength. The town of Montbrison is home to the Syndicat de la Fourme de Montbrison, which promotes and defends this emblematic regional product.
