OFFICE DE TOURISME BUREAU DE TANINGES
In winter, the tourist office of Taninges takes its quarters in its high altitude resort of Le Praz de Lys and in summer, the tourist office offers guided tours of the old town (July-August, see the program at the tourist office). Follow the guides through the historic centre of Taninges, which is particularly rich and interesting with the Grande Rue, the rue des Arcades, the Sainte-Anne chapel, the old donkey back bridge of the 16th century and the Saint-Jean-Baptiste church. A beautiful village at a crossroads which was once an important commercial centre, nowadays famous for its furniture, salting and cultural activity (many concerts). To see: one of the great churches of Haute-Savoie dating from the 19th century in the Sardinian neo-classical style (where concerts of carillons and great organs take place), the former convent of nuns and the Carthusian monastery of Mélan dating from the 13th century, which today hosts, from June to October, an exhibition open to the public. Guided tours, offered by the tourist office, take place every Wednesday at 5pm in July-August. The hearing of the Carillon (44 bells - discovery of the harmoniums) takes place every Tuesday evening at 6 pm and Thursday mornings at 10.30 am in summer (free). Also to be discovered: the Heritage House in the old town of Taninges, all year round.
