To reconnect with Souvigny's industrial past, the museum is offering an exhibition on the glassworks for the middle of the 2024 season. From its beginnings in 1755 to its closure in 1979, this former royal glassworks supplied major hotels around the world, airlines such as Air France, with an entire service for the Concorde, and transatlantic companies. The exhibition presents the materials involved in glass composition, the tools used (cane, mold) and the various processes involved in glassmaking (blowing, cutting). Exceptional pieces will be on display, such as "bousilleries", pieces of glass fashioned into fish or other everyday objects created by glassmakers in their spare time.
There are several major events each year: in April, the Plant Show and the European Crafts Days, as well as numerous educational workshops for children and themed trails in the botanical area of the prieural garden. Access to lapidary collections and garden during museum opening hours.
The restructuring of the museum, which is cramped into 2 monastic barns, is also on the agenda as part of the Unesco World Heritage candidacy for this exceptional prieural site. The museum's surface area is set to double, with the idea of a scientific project on the history of Souvigny (Cluny, the Bourbons), and the creation of a structure to manage the heritage of the Souvignyssois. The aim is for the museum entrance to be accessible through the priory's main gate.
