Museum with more than 70 displays of figurines that explain the origin of the museum, the history of the figurine...
It's the lead version of the santons de Provence, with a warlike dimension! Museums dedicated to toy soldiers can be counted on the fingers of one hand. The one in Tulette, one of the largest in France, houses over seventy display cases of figurines explaining the origins of the museum, the history of the figurine and the history of France, from prehistory to the present day, depicting medieval knights and kings of France. Original and surprising, this museum is housed in a former silk mill. You'll discover a succession of fascinating miniature scenes of the battle of Rocroy, the regiments of Provence, the Great War, etc... More thematic displays are devoted to the history of military costume, horse-drawn carriages and wine transport. Further on, you'll discover the various Côtes du Rhône brotherhoods. Admire the model of the Château de Chamaret and the foundry created by the museum's founder, the late Paul Cibert, for the production of lead figurines. Most of the museum, however, is devoted to the Napoleonic era, with a 21m2 diorama of the Battle of Borodino, featuring over 13,000 hand-painted figurines - 15 years of hard work by the museum's founder. Temporary exhibitions sit alongside thematic ones (Napoleon, Middle Ages and knights, fantasy).
