GRAINE DE COCAGNE
Biological and collective gardens with a vocation for social integration, the Jardins de Cocagne are more than a hundred in France. The Drôme is home to three of them, at the initiative of the local association Parenthèse, including the one in Saint-Marcel-lès-Valence created in 2009 and the last one in 2015 in Peyrins, near Romans. These gardens offer employment and training to adults in difficulty (24 gardeners in training and 7 permanent employees). The member supports the structure, by subscribing to the purchase of a weekly organic basket (up to 51 weekly baskets per year), in the Amap way. Different basket sizes are available: family, duo or solo. You don't choose the contents of your basket but the diversity is there: on average 5 to 6 different vegetables, the number can go up to 10 in full summer production. The vegetables are certified organic. Consumers in the Valentine's area have about thirty drop-off points. So there is one near your base camp!
