The Mastrou, a steam train powered by charcoal, took passengers to the famous Lamastre market.
From mid-April to mid-October, the Tournon/Lamastre line, opened in 1891, takes locals and tourists to Lamastre via the Gorges du Doux. This little steam train offers a ride at the pace of yesteryear, in a stunning natural setting. At the time, it served all the stations on its route. Today, this "Le Mastrou" line is very busy during the tourist season, and is one of the local sights well worth a visit.
