Visit an abbey with a church housing the relics of Saint Gilbert de Neuffonts, a place of pilgrimage to Saint-Didier.
Explanatory panels on the walls of the chapter house explain the life of the abbey and its founder. Photographs of the work carried out since 1959 by the first rehabilitator, Mr. Lerat, through to the work carried out since 1999, are also on display, giving you an idea of the immense amount of work that has gone into saving this heritage site. Iconography relating to Saint Gilbert de Neuffonts must have been important in the past. The saint was revered throughout the region, and the Premonstratensian order made him known in Auvergne (before he was a Bourbonnais). After his death on October 3, 1152, miracles occurred near his tomb. The abbey soon became a place of pilgrimage. With the completion of the church, the founder's body was transferred to the building, thus formalizing and developing the pilgrimage. Over the decades, his cult spread. Gilbert became the patron saint of the Bourbonnais region. The monastery's architecture reflects the evolution towards ogival art. In the eastern wing, the first room to be built, the chauffoir, features groined vaults. This was the only heated room in the monastery, and the place where monks gathered to carry out manual tasks. Visits to the abbey are free of charge. However, an urn is available for visitors to make a contribution, however small, to the upkeep of the abbey's heritage. The beauty of the site lends itself particularly well to receptions or a relaxing stay.

Je pensais que c'était un hôtel le propriétaire m'a répondu et a été très agréable
Mais n'a visiblement pas apprécié plusieurs questions à cette heure et quand je lui ai demandé ce qu'il proposait comme petit déjeuner il m'a répondu cela fait beaucoup de questions j'ai autre chose à faire

Nous apprécions de séjourner dans les lieux d'histoire mais j'ai été refroidi pour une réservation
