CHÂTEAU DE LARGENTIÈRE

The castle thrones on the heights of the medieval village. Its architecture is remarkable and it is necessary to highlight various stages in its construction. There was first of all the construction of the tower "Argentière", built in the 12th century and whose walls are 3 m thick, then a second tower built just next to it and of which only the base remains. In the 15th century, two twin towers were added to the fortified enclosure. The place, which now belongs to the commune, was also a seigneurial residence, a prison and a hospital.
