Châtillon Castle is undergoing a vast restoration plan and is ideal for attending historical summer events.
Probably built around the year 1000 on a Roman castrum, the castle of Châtillon will suffer the furious attacks of the army of King Henry IV, who came to besiege a stronghold of the family of Savoy to which the fortress belongs. With its fortifications largely levelled, the castle was the subject of a vast restoration plan. Today, visible from afar, with its enclosure and its massive and majestic towers at the same time, the castle of Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne is the occasion for summer celebrations of a historical nature.
