BASTION WALK
Take a stroll along the old bastion, built in the century to reinforce the town's fortifications and ideal for ball games
The bastion was erected under François I to reinforce the town's fortifications and counter a possible return of the Savoyards. On the remains of these 16th-century ramparts, a town square planted with lime trees has been laid out, with a children's playground. Statued by the sculptor David d'Angers, it shows Xavier Bichat examining a young patient. At his feet, a corpse wrapped in a sheet evokes the many dissections performed by the famous doctor to advance the state of the art. The sandy promenade is ideal for bowls.
