The association was founded in 2005 under the name Arpeije (Association pour la Recherche, l'Éducation et l'Information des Jeunes Épileptiques). Having merged with the BFE - which focused on adults - the association changed its name to Epilepsie France, addressing both children and adults. It regularly organizes discussion groups, conferences and other events.
