High church or old church, so called to distinguish it from the other church of the village in Bonnieux
It is so called to distinguish it from the other church in the village. Why high? Because you will have to climb 86 steps to reach it, but you will be in the shade of the hundred-year-old cedars and sheltered from the mistral! It is because of this climb that the somewhat gloomy expression "The dead bury the living" was born. It is because it was necessary to transport the dead on the back of a man. The building, classified as a historical monument, has undergone numerous restorations and enlargements.

Classée monument historique depuis 1980 sa position est sur la partie la plus haut du village de BONNIEUX. A ses pieds on embrase le magnifique paysage provençale avec ses champs de lavandes c'est spectaculaire. Il vous faudra grimper des ruelles pentues mais chargées d'histoire pour la découvrir enfin. Nous n'avons pas pu visiter l'intérieur car elle est ouverte seulement a certaines occasions
