14th century castle with various architectures, once a Mecca of the Resistance, hosts cultural events

Built at the beginning of the 14th century by the Barons of Montmaur, who owned it until 1825, this castle offers a condensed version of several architectural styles; having been enlarged or partially rebuilt over the centuries, all styles have succeeded one another, from Romanesque to Rococo. This castle was also a Mecca for the Resistance. Owned by the Hautes-Alpes Department, it has been renovated to make it accessible to the public again. A place to rediscover and reappropriate during many cultural events.

Opening time and information on MONTMAUR CASTLE

Guided tours in July and August every day from Tuesday to Saturday at 14h30 and 16h (5 €/adults). Free visits of the ceremonial rooms from 2pm to 5.30pm (free entrance). Guided tour (at 3pm and 5pm).
