As the festive season approaches, Obernai goes into Christmas time with authenticity and friendliness. During its traditional Christmas market, under the sign of gastronomy and craftsmanship, the town lives to the rhythm of Advent in the magic that emerges from this period so special in Alsace. Some forty wooden chalets invade the town centre to create an enchanting setting between the scents of gingerbread and mulled wine. Bredalas, Christmas beer, snails, jams, chocolates, brandy, foie gras, etc... On December 6, don't miss the visit of Saint Nicholas and his black-clad sidekick, Father Fouettard!

the group of the usual small houses in the shade of the ramparts creates a pleasant super space (in the centre and fir trees, retro roundabout), and gives the city centre offering a beautiful decoration, a nursery with live animals (today, lamb played with a pigeon, superb). Stroll downtown gives a lot more desire for entering the shops, because the absence of the small houses remove this impression of " touristes" trap; that gave the previous years.
Moreover it is open between Christmas and new year.

Cette année, le marché gastronomique d'Obernai a déménagé pour des raisons de sécurité et se situe sous la halle Gruber, parking Pferchel et c'est tant mieux.
Le décor vous met dans l'ambiance de Noël et il est beaucoup plus facile de déambuler entre les différents chalets pour effectuer ses achats. Les artisans locaux et traditionnels sont toujours présents et vous font déguster leurs produits avec plaisir. Ce marché est beaucoup plus agréable et pratique à ce nouvel emplacement. Par contre, il ne faut pas hésiter à franchir le rempart pour visiter la ville, ses monuments, ses commerces et sa décoration de fin d'année : elle vaut le détour. Incontournable en Alsace.
