It's long, hard walk from the city centre, but completely worth it for the view from the top, and to see inside the basilique - plus you get pilgrim credibility!
Take a jacket or a woolly sweater as the wind can pick up (the terrace was closed due to weather today).
I didn't go to the restaurant, so can't comment on quality. Water and hot drinks available from vending machines.
The no 60 bus ???? operates regularly if you are low on energy, or pushed for time.
Very beautiful cathedral. Great views. We went to gift shop (it was lovely) and bought something to remember the trip. We went to the restaurant. It was excellent. Very memorable food. Great stuff. Dog friendly too. We went by bus, excellent service.
A must see, with a spectacular view of Marseille.. I got some really good panoramic photos.
For those who want to know..
Basilique Notre-Dame de la Garde is a lavish 19th-century icon that's visible from across Marseille. It sits on the remains of a 12th-century chapel and a 16th-century fort. The structure has been used as both a place of worship and a part of the city's defences. Today, locals come to the basilica to pray for or give thanks for safe journeys and recovery from illness.
Conveniente solo 10€ a testa.
