Since January 2012, universities Aix-Marseille I (University of Provence), Aix-Marseille II (University of the Mediterranean) and Aix-Marseille III (Paul-Cézanne University) have merged, forming a single entity: Aix-Marseille University, which sits on the Pharo. That is what could be termed a return to resources, since until 1968 the three universities were grouped together! 72 000 students are currently divided between five main campuses themselves composed of several sites: Aix-en-Provence (FACULTY Arts, Letters, Languages, Social Sciences, FACULTY law, political science, FACULTY economy management), Marseille Saint-Jérôme, Marseille Centre (FACULTY Arts, Letters, Languages, Social Sciences, FACULTY law, Political sciences, FACULTY Economics Management), Marseille Timone (medicine, dentistry) and Marseille Luminy (science).
