LA RADE
Hearty home-made recipes in a restaurant with terrace in Marseille.
It's not easy to find your way around the profusion of restaurants that line the road known as Plage de l'Estaque, in this very spot where there is no beach, but a marina! La Rade has the advantage of longevity, over 20 years in existence, and the support of its many Marseille fans, who know that you can come here for a drink or a bite to eat at any time. You'll also appreciate the picturesque ambience of the ground-floor room, with its maritime scenes painted on the walls in the style of marine frescoes. Fresh grilled fish with parsley rice and Provençal tomatoes, excellent mussels au gratin with a nice garnish of crudités and figs, supions en persillade, homemade soup with croutons and saffron rouille, pasta, pizzas - there's plenty to choose from, all presented simply but copiously, with no more decorative effect on the plates. If you'd like a table upstairs, on the terrace overlooking the harbor, remember to make a reservation. The restaurant is very popular!
