Notre-Dame de la Garde is one of, if not THE monument of the city of Marseille. Under the drawbridge is a museum that traces the 800-year history of the building. After 3 years of renovation, it reopened its doors to the public just before Christmas. Visitors can discover the pilgrimage to Notre-Dame de la Garde throughout the centuries, the origins of the sanctuary and the reconstruction that took place in the mid-19th century. The long history of the basilica that watches over the prefecture of Bouches-du-Rhône is illustrated by major works of art, beautiful collections of ex-votos and many other ancient documents. We also understand the strong attachment of the inhabitants of Marseille to their Good Mother. From now on, the museum of Notre-Dame de la Garde will host 2 thematic exhibitions per year.
