The young Marseille marathon is celebrating its 7th anniversary this year and announces the very first of 2015! It kicks off the season with a brand new course composed of 2 loops. Practical information

date: the next Marseille marathon will be held on 15 March 2015, making it the first major event of the year in France for marathon runners, while enjoying the first days of spring in the mild southern climate.

registration date: registrations are still possible until the day before the race depending on the number of requests. Marseille being a big city, it is strongly advised to register as soon as possible.

maximum number of participants: according to the organizers, this marathon can accommodate up to 4,000 runners. In 2014, there were only 954 finishers. We can hope for more in 2015, with a new course and a lower bib price!

The Course

interest: marathon and half marathon runners, you will start near the MuCEM (Museum of Civilizations, Europe and the Mediterranean) and head towards the CMA CGM Tower, then towards the Porte d'Aix and the Canebière. You will then visit the Castellane roundabout, the Prado roundabout and the Borély park. A long walk along the Prado beach and the Corniche will follow before reaching the Old Port where the finish of the three events will be judged. The marathon course consists of two 21-kilometre loops.

Difficulty: the route runs mainly along the sea and in the heart of the city. It will allow runners to enjoy the fresh Mediterranean air, especially on the Kennedy Corniche.

elevation gain: the course is fairly flat and rolling and does not involve any particular difficulty. However, as with all seaside races and moreover in Marseille, an area that is favourable to the Mistral, there can be wind. An obstacle that can sometimes disturb the riders.

temperature: although it is often very nice and very hot in Marseille, the temperatures oscillate around 12 °C at this time of year. Provide a windbreaker in case of mistral wind.

Refreshment: a total of 9 refreshment points are placed regularly throughout the race to meet the needs of the runners. These stands will be managed by volunteers at the disposal of the runners to ensure their comfort and safety on the course.

services at the finish line: at the finish line, lockers, changing rooms, musical entertainment, treatment and massage areas will be available to the runners
