Cistercian abbey built by Bertrand des Baux in La Roque, transformed into an important cultural place of the Pays d'Aix.
Overlooking the Durance plain and facing the Luberon, it is one of the jewels of the Aix region. This Cistercian abbey quickly experienced an important spiritual and economic development. Its decline began at the end of the 13th century (conflict with the Abbey of Montmajour, natural disasters, Hundred Years War). Listed as a historical monument, and now owned by the town, Silvacane Abbey is an important cultural venue in the Aix region, hosting exhibitions, meetings and concerts, renowned for its acoustic quality.

Very pretty monument. Stone is beautiful, that is worth it. You can visit all rooms make up an abbey, this one being well preserved (or renovated?): cloisters, dormitory, refectory (exhibition),... however, was exasperated a bit by the price of the ticket: €7.5... (when it is known that you can see a castle including Chambord for 9:00 euros, you will find that 7,5€ for that, it is really exaggerated).

There is little, I listened. tried to listen. a concert Vivaldi. However, I was at the edge of the central path to the 10° row. it was a horror. it took me to try to guess what I would hear the sound arrived properly at my ears. I could only guess that could have been very beautiful. A malaysian coming very close to suffering. I do not understand why it continues to spoil the beauty prepares us musicians since at our ears arriving from the bits in tumble!
