The tradition of the Sitting plunges its roots into the history of the port of Marseille, which in the th century came from many Italian and Sicilian immigrants who importèrent with them their techniques of embroidery. While it is difficult to industrialize such a meticulous work, the women of Provence are still holding this ancestral know-how and passing it on through associations today. To discover these ancient techniques of sitting and quilting as well as those of the patchwork, his American cousin, it is the entire program of this association that exposes his creations to the public.
