Every year, this celebration pays tribute to Frédéric Mistral (1830-1914): the Provençal writer praised by Lamartine and Alphonse Daudet. Mireille remains his major work. The festivities take place in Parc Jourdan with a show of folk dances, music and customary speeches given by Provençal specialists, not to mention the traditional recital of Provençal songs. An opportunity for Provençal people to reconnect with the cultural past of their region.
