SYNDICAT INTERPROFESSIONNEL DE L'OLIVE
In 1995, three years after the first thoughts on the creation of an AOC for Nice olive, the SION was created. Composed of a board of directors of 12 members representing the olive industry (6 olive growers, 3 private processors and 3 representatives of olive cooperatives), the union is recognized as the Organization for Management and Defense (OGD) by INAO. Its mission is to encourage the collective approach of the Aops, to facilitate adaptation to the new arrangements for approval and control, to promote the three olive products (olive, oil and olive paste) and to defend the name and territory of the designations. With a project organizer working in relation to the olive technician of the Agriculture Chamber of the Alpes-Maritimes, he is the privileged interlocutor for olive growers, mouths and confectioners. On the Union's website, you will find information about producers, labeling, organized competitions… and you can download a very well designed map, "06 road of olive trees", which will lead you from mills to fields.
