CARNAVAL DE NICE

It's the Côte d'Azur's flagship event! The Nice Carnival, one of the biggest and oldest in the world, attracts thousands of spectators every year. More than a thousand musicians and dancers take part in this vibrant celebration, chasing away the winter gloom with colorful floats and flower battles (corsos fleuris). The atmosphere is electrifying, as the town is invaded by costumed and masked crowds. To round things off in style, the Carnival King is burned in the sea on the final evening, followed by a spectacular fireworks display.
