L'EMBUT DE CAUSSOLS
The embut of Caussols is a natural cavity, a 10 m abyss in which the rainwater of the plateau of Caussols disappears
In Provençal, an embut is a funnel. It's the perfect word to describe the sinkholes, up to 450 m deep, in which rainwater disappears. This water resurfaces in the Gorges du Loup or feeds the region's springs and fountains. L'embut de Caussols is a natural cavity, a 10 m chasm into which rainwater from the Caussols plateau disappears. It is not really signposted, but can be found about 1 km before the village, on the left as you come from Gourdon.
