CHATELET BRIDGE
This structure is 27 m long and overhangs the Ubaye river by a hundred meters
A slightly dizzying structure, the only access to the hamlet of Fouillouse. Built between 1880 and 1882, this 27 m long structure overhangs the Ubaye river by a hundred meters (108), continuing with a tunnel dug in the rock 28 m long. An impressive ensemble. With its unique stone arch of 18 m opening, it seems to keep the rocky walls apart. Undermined in 1944, the arch resisted and the bridge was restored in 1945. The panorama is splendid, even if it is better to have a good heart. A work that is worth the detour!
