A regional nature park accessible from Moustiers-Sainte-Marie that opens up like a picture book in a rugged landscape.

La Bastide de Valx is the park's flagship site, offering a wide range of books and information sheets. With some 1,000 km of hiking trails (including the famous Blanc-Martel trail), the landscape of the Parc naturel régional du Verdon opens up like a picture book in a rugged relief, recounting 250 million years of geological history. The Verdon River, the backbone of the region, has shaped its identity. The deep incisions of the Grand Canyon rub shoulders with the fullness of the Sainte-Croix and Esparron lakes, the vast lavender plateaus of the Pays de Valensole and the hills of the Haut-Var. Five artificial reservoirs, the Castillon, Chaudane, Sainte-Croix, Quinson and Esparron de Verdon lakes, contribute to the beauty of this land. Visit our attractive website, an almost inexhaustible source of information and images of splendid landscapes that will undoubtedly make you want to go and admire these unique and naturally rich territories with your own eyes! And for lovers of unspoilt nature, let's not forget that you'll be able to observe or rub shoulders with a third of France's flora, so unique is its wealth of flora. And the richness of its fauna is not to be outdone. The Great Bustard, the Griffon Vulture, the Ocellated Lizard (Europe's largest) and 22 species of bats (out of 32 recorded in France) are just some examples of the animal diversity present.
