This is the local branch of the AIDS association. Aides was created in 1984 in tribute to the Poitou philosopher Michel Foucault, who died of the disease in December 1983. Established for years on Pont-Achard Boulevard, the association has migrated to one of the most visible roads in the city. Its eight employees and a team of volunteers welcome the public twice a week to inform, test for HIV and hepatitis in complete discretion. There is comfort and valuable advice to avoid feeling isolated. That is to say, the reception and harm reduction support centre for drug users also operates on site.
