The Nouaillé memorial commemorating the Battle of Poitiers, with plaques and a map on the ground to stop the English army
september 19, 1356: the Hundred Years' War took a bad turn for France when its king John II the Good decided in the vicinity of Poitiers to stop the advance of the English army of the Black Prince Edward of Woodstock. The king, his son Philip and many knights were taken prisoner and the Valois kingdom was considerably weakened. The memorial of Nouaillé commemorates the Battle of Poitiers with plaques and a map on the ground.
