RAMPARTS OF THE MARQUETTE

The city walls were extended to the south in the 14th century. The Marquette tower and the Gâtine gate are the main symbols of this. Registered and classified, the Marquette tower is part of the discovery tour of the city "Mirebeau and its secrets". The Candale Tower, one of the most important towers of the city but unfortunately demolished in 1848, is located on the site of the Porte de la Gâtine, and gave its name to the street.
