WOMEN'S FOUNTAIN

This is the prettiest fountain in Mirebeau, situated about 1.5 km from the centre of the village, near the place called La Roche-Bridier. Protected from view on one side by a pretty stone embrace, it is a covered fountain with a tiled roof with two valleys. Its basin, made of tufa stone, is octagonal and can be reached by two small staircases. Between the 15th and 19th centuries, the lepers came here to get water and even to wash themselves. The water comes from the Chaudour spring. A space is equipped with a table which allows a pleasant picnic.
