FORTIFIED ENTRANCE TO THE VILLAGE OF NOTRE-DAME
Monuments & Buildings
Recommended
A horseshoe-shaped building with a bridge, moat and two towers at the entrance.
From the rue de l'Echelle-de-Pierre, one can see a horseshoe-shaped building. The western fortified gateway has a bridge, ditches, and two towers with gunports that leave no doubt as to the defensive function of such a construction. This gateway to the historic district separated and protected the Ville-Haute from the suburbs of Lusignan. In 2010, it was restored to its last 17th century state.
