One of the best preserved castles of Chauvigny, with a rectangular enclosure, high curtains, and turrets
Château d'Harcourt first belonged to the Lusignan family and then, in the 13th century, passed through marriage to the Harcourt family, before being ceded in 1447 to the bishops of Poitiers, barons of Chauvigny. Rebuilt in the 13th century, it is the best-preserved of the Chauvinois castles. Its almost rectangular enclosure features high curtain walls flanked by solid cylindrical turrets. Two adjoining buildings make up the whole, but only the southern one remains well preserved. A Micro-Folie allows visitors to discover cultural works digitally.

À l'occasion de la fête médiévale, la cour du château accueillait un campement de chevaliers médiévaux.
sunlight through the windows enhanced the delightful atmosphere. Interesting interactive displays in the museum part (but not very intuitive to operate!) Well worth a visit.
