A fortress, overlooking the village with an exceptional panorama and bearing witness to centuries of history and wars.
The place, to build a fortress, was providential: perched on its promontory, the castle overhangs the village of nearly 40 meters above the Anglin. The site is also exceptional for the panorama offered. A real treat for the eyes! The first keep of the fortress dates from the 11th century. Its origin is uncertain : its construction would have been requested by Hugues VI de Lusignan, or by Isembert1st, bishop of Poitiers. It underwent various transformations until the 15th century and was at the center of wars until the beginning of the 18th century.

La vue depuis les hauteurs est tout simplement magnifique, avec un panorama imprenable sur le paysage environnant. Le cadre est propre et bien entretenu, ce qui rend la visite agréable et paisible. On s’y sent presque hors du temps.
Si vous aimez les lieux chargés d’histoire, un peu sauvages mais encore solides, c’est un arrêt incontournable dans le sud de la France. À découvrir sans hésiter !
