Museum to discover the history of a city with multiple lives that is the city of Royan, also presents temporary exhibitions

From the splendor of the Belle Epoque resort to the modernity of the Thirty Glorious, the Museum lets you discover the history of a city with many lives. Housed in the former Pontaillac market, the permanent collection is arranged chronologically: from the emergence of the ancient city to the 1970s, via Picasso's stay, the Second World War and the cabinet of curiosities, not forgetting the Cordouan lighthouse, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Allow an average 45-minute visit.

Pour les fans d'histoire
Belle découverte à réserver aux personnes curieuses ou passionnées d'histoire. La partie évoquant la guerre de 39/45 permet de comprendre ce que la population a vécu. La ville a été quasi anéantie par les bombardements. Cette page de notre histoire est sombre mais ne doit pas être oubliée. Au regard des tensions internationales actuelles, un regard dans le rétroviseur doit nous permettre d'éviter le pire ou au moins nous faire réfléchir. A noter, très belles pièces de mobilier des années d'après guerre.
