History: close to the Cayenne channel, the Cité de l'Huître benefits from an ideal location, in the heart of a vast oyster farming domain. Through courses, initiations, games, activities and films, you will fully experience the world of oysters. Four colorful huts offer the opportunity to learn more about this shellfish that has made the Charente-Maritime region famous, but also about other exceptional products: saltwort, salt, clams that are cultivated on this territory. Afterwards, the big show on a giant screen: Between land and sea, a film that presents the Marennes Oléron region, seen from the sky, from the land and from the sea...
The advantages: the Cité de l'Huître has a restaurant - bar with terrace on stilts. The place is ideal for tasting oysters, for two or more with the inevitable glass of white wine. The entrance ticket allows you to benefit from a bicycle in order to discover an exceptional natural space: "le Chemin des Claires" 4 km long. In July and August, the little train that takes you from the reception station to the different sites of visit. Daily activities: animated visit of an oyster farm, initiation to the opening of oysters, initiation to hot oysters, games for children.
