Carrière Saint Georges, is a natural area with kaolin clay, a lookout with a view and a picnic area

This natural area, in the heart of the Double Saintongeaise, is a unique place to visit. The Communauté des Communes de Haute-Saintonge has upgraded the first kaolin clay extraction quarry, which is scheduled to be completed in 2014. Today, walkers can enjoy a stabilized path that leads to the bottom of the quarry. Higher up, a lookout with a reading table offers a breathtaking view of the site and lecterns along the way provide information on the history of the quarry and the fauna and flora. Smart, it is possible to have a lunch break on the picnic area.
