Here is the castle of Verteuil, labeled "House of Illustrious", with its eight towers, one of which is a watchtower. Built in the 11th century, modernized in the 19th century, the castle has welcomed François I, Henri de Navarre, Louis XIII, the Prince de Condé, Admiral Coligny and Charles V. Property of the family of La Rochefoucauld, it is within these walls that Francis VI, Duke of La Rochefoucauld, famous author of the Maxims, wrote his memoirs. Possibility to visit the park and the large kitchen on request.
