Cast off your moorings and cruise down the Charente on a boat without a license, and you'll have a whole new way of seeing the department. The adventure, in which you are the captain, can last up to a few days. On board, you'll enjoy idleness, fishing, gourmet stops and discoveries. Twenty-one locks regulate the 171 km of the Charente. The route is dotted with towns and cities rich in relics of the past, including Angoulême, Fleurac, Saint-Simeux, Châteauneuf, Saint-Simon, Bassac, Jarnac, Saint-Brice, Cognac, Saintes, Saint-Savinien and Rochefort.
