ABBEY OF SAINT-AMANT-DE-BOIXE
A superb abbey church, a high point of Romanesque architecture on one of the paths leading to Santiago de Compostela.
The abbatial is a magnificent building, a place of Romanesque architecture located on one of the roads leading to Santiago-de-Compostela, the abbatial façade decorated with stylishly underlined archaic motifs of Byzantine inspiration. The first mention in the texts of its foundation dates back to the ninth century but, of course, all its "romanity" expresses itself in the architecture of the xiith century. The interior of the church is all in height and in the slightest glory, marked by a debut from transept. To see: the wall paintings of the xive, extracted from the crypt and the eighteenth century altar. Many cultural events throughout the year.
