THE LAKES OF THE UPPER CHARENTE

The largest tourist and tourist area in Poitou-Charentes hides in Charente limousine and owes its creation… to man. The Barrages and Mas-Chaban dams, which have become lakes, provide the low of the River Charente. They have now become a real tourist asset thanks to the important efforts made to make it a rather unique natural space, on the way to being integrated into the perimeter of the Perigord-Limousin natural park. These 400 hectares nestled in the middle of a generous and preserved nature offer an ideal area of leisure and holidays: swimming, water activities, fishing, hiking or cycling (possible rental) on the many paths that criss up the site (eleven marked circuits 6 to 40 kilometres). In addition, there are many possibilities for accommodation (rent houses, rooms of the standing, camping).
