It's said that this church is in stone, it's prettier than a church in a meteorite. Yet the church of Chassenon is the oldest Christian edifice built with rocks transformed by the impact of a meteorite that fell 214 million years ago on the Charente Limousine. These rocks are called brèches. By descending to the Dit, the Commune commune, the meteorite made a crater, called astroblème, at least 21 km in diameter.
