LANTERN OF THE DEAD

In the th century, we called «lantern of the dead», a tower surmounted by a pavilion in which a veilleuse became. This light was supposed to serve as a guide to the dead and incite prayer. In Cellefrouin, the cemetery is located above the village, overlooking the church of St. Nicholas. The lantern of the dead is lined with a conical roof with stone scales. A staircase makes it possible to link the cemetery to the church.
