CHURCH OF ST. CHRISTOPHER
This former church between Les Herbiers and Saint-Fulgent is now a treasure trove of medieval art
Built in the 11th century, it is a veritable treasure trove of medieval art. Magnificent wall paintings dating back to the 13th century were discovered by chance in the choir in 1950, constituting one of the finest examples of Gothic religious decoration in Western France. Religious interest is matched by secular interest, with a rare collection of colored coats of arms of the great Poitevin families of the medieval period.
