Built in 1003, this Benedictine abbey in the Marais Poitevin has preserved its cathedral, kitchen, refectory, cellar and salt cellar. Virtual reality brings its past splendor to life. Visit the abbey using the app. From 09/07 to 26/08, Sunday to Thursday: 2 historical shows, Qu'est-ce qu'on attend pour être heureux and La Voyageuse et le Fol Architecte. And events in which the public takes an active part in the visit! Monumental tour (July 4) and evening visits on Fridays July 18, 25, August1 and 8 at 9:30pm. Don't miss the Christmas fair!

Opening time and information on MAILLEZAIS ABBEY
Closed from November 6 to February 28. In March and from October 1st to November 5th: open every day (except Tuesday) from 10am to 12:30pm and from 2pm to 6pm. April, May and September : every day from 10am to 12:30pm and from 1:30pm to 6pm. June to August: every day from 10am to 7pm. Free until 11 years old. Adults from 6€ to 8€, 12-25 years old from 4 to 5€. Vendée pass : adult 25€ ; young people 12-25 years old 18€.

Overlooking the canals dug by the monks to dry out the Gulf of Pictons, Maillezais rises on an island overlooking the Marais Poitevin, a splendid natural environment unique in France.

Nous avons fait une heure de route avec un enfant en bas âge, attirés par les animations annoncées sur le site. Malheureusement, en arrivant, aucune animation n’était présente, contrairement à ce qui était indiqué. À part quelques stands de nourriture, il n’y avait rien à faire. Si des activités sont annulées, il serait essentiel de prévenir les visiteurs à l’avance. Cela éviterait de faire un déplacement inutile et de perdre du temps. Très décevant, je ne recommande pas.
Marché de Noël à voir impérativement.
