For 3 centuries, this family estate has been handed down from father to son to the current generation represented by Nicolas Wittmann. The estate is located in a beautiful Renaissance house in the village. The vinification respects traditions while using modern techniques: manual harvesting, pneumatic press, ageing on lees. On a surface area of 8.5 ha, all the Alsatian grape varieties are represented, including some on the Grand Cru Zotzenberg (the only terroir where sylvaner benefits from the Grand Cru appellation), on the place called Stein and on the communal appellation Klevener de Heiligenstein. The estate has 3 charming (air-conditioned) guest rooms (2 persons) which will allow you to fully enjoy the place, its gastronomy and its wines. Among the beautiful vintages to be tasted :
$Sylvaner Grand Cru Zotzenberg 2017 : 12,70 €. This elegant and aromatic wine seduces with its slightly smoky citrus fruit nose, its beautiful richness on the palate and the liveliness of its finish. Ample and round, it can be enjoyed with seafood, pan-fried foie gras or a mild cheese such as Neufchâtel.
Klevener de Heiligenstein 2018: 9,80 €. Excellent vintage for this wine of communal appellation, made from the pink Savagnin grape variety. Translucent straw-yellow colour, peach and citrus fruit aromas. On the palate, its freshness and roundness are marvellous with shellfish and seafood.
Riesling Lieu dit Stein 2018: 10,50 €. Coming from a terroir leaning against the southern slope of Mittelbergheim, this wine of character presents a beautiful vivacity in the mouth, with peach and mirabelle plum aromas, as well as a fine acidity. Perfect with "bouchées à la reine" or an old-fashioned veal blanquette.
